On June 12 and 13, 2025, the 4th Dutch Antisense Therapeutics Symposium took place in Groningen (The Netherlands).
This meeting brought together more than 100 national and international participants working on antisense therapeutic strategies to treat rare diseases. This meeting also offers a platform to early career investigators to present their work and provides a friendly environment to network with the experts in the field.
Our Lifelong VISION PI Alex Garanto co-organized this year’s edition, which featured inspiring keynote lectures on entrepreneurship and regulatory pathways for translating antisense technologies into clinical applications either through conventional paths or n-of-1 personalized experimental treatments. The scientific program also highlighted exciting developments in novel delivery systems and therapeutic approaches targeting muscular, neurometabolic, and brain disorders amongst others. Edwin van Oosten, presented his work titled “Towards personalized antisense oligonucleotide treatment for Stargardt disease: targeting an ultrarare deep-intronic ABCA4 variant using human in vitro models” which was awarded with the 3rd prize for the best oral presentation.
The symposium showcased significant progress in delivery technologies and antisense therapeutics, reinforcing the growing impact of this field in addressing unmet medical needs.
The dates and location for next year will be released after summer on www.dutchantisense.org.
